My baby giraffe and lil’ monkey- We belong in the zoo!

Christmas Card season is in full swing! We met this morning for a quick mini-session. My challenge: twenty minutes to capture a toddler and a three month old for the perfect portrait… I had my work cut out for me- but, I do believe it was a success! Cooper is such a good big brother, it made my job easy.

I was a bit concerned about this cutie’s dad… We scheduled his family’s portraits for the fourth Saturday in October without really thinking of exactly what would be happening that day! He was a good sport of course. We ended the session at my house in time to see the heartbreaking finale to the big game. His mom has been one of my favorite friends since way back when, freshman year in college (I bet you can guess where that was! )

It is begining to look alot like fall around here, the leaves are starting to show their colors, and I love this weather. Graham was looking precious in his Christmas outfit and his momma was super cute in boots!

This was the worst family ever… Ha! (just kidding Mike! he said after their session, “I can see your blog post now, it is going to say that we were a challenge!”) Not at all! I had a great time running around (chasing!) these three boys. The truth is, all children are a “challenge” to photograph. They are too busy to sit and pose. When something feels unnatural they won’t do it. That is why I love photographing children! They are real. All of their little expressions and laughs and jumps and runs. I hope to catch those beautiful and fleeting moments of childhood. Families are always growing and changing, I love that I get capture this special season of their lives.

James Henry had fun slip sliding in the mud today on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin.

This sweet family welcomed a new member this summer. They are so kind and loving, he is one lucky fella to join them.

Dixie is the cutest! She was more than willing to have her portrait made- Her tail even wagged in a way as if to say, picture day! picture day! Leo on the other hand…. tolerated my camera for a moment. He effectively communicated that he would allow one portrait in the location of his choice and that would be it. He then excused himself, thank you very much.

Last weekend on a trip to Georgia, some friends took me to the Marietta Square. There was a street festival going on and it was so fun to walk around and explore. I think that your home is a wonderful backdrop for portraits, but often the city you live in can offer exciting and different settings. Locations that have special meaning to your family are perfect!

Meet Little Miss Cutie. She enjoys smiling, bow collecting, cheering for the Vols and all things smocked. She loves her parents and having her picture made. Such a sweet girl, and quite the model!
