Cator-Woolford was the perfect backdrop for Matt and Rachel’s Atlanta garden wedding. Gorgeous florals by SGS designs complimented the lush green setting. The Tech trolley, Lynchberg lemonade, Southern belles in blue,  and azaleas in bloom… I love a spring wedding in the south! See a slide show sneak peek of their BIG day by clicking here and then on the “Matt and Rachel” tab. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Bine!

I love weddings!

copyrightkatysouthernphotography21 Wedding photography incorporates so many aspects of art that I enjoy.  In addition to the usual elements and principles, there is portraiture, photo journalism, architecture, still life, fashion and even graphic design when I am creating albums.  When I started my portrait business I may have muttered the words, weddings and never, in the same sentence… I take it back! As it turns out, I kinda love weddings. So, to make it official I have decided to leap into the wonderful world of weddings, and bridal bliss by having a real deal weddings web site. It is still under construction, but check it out- just promise to come back when it is complete- Thanks!

The happy couple were married during the merriest time of year! The weather was very Tennessee in December, wet and cold. It made the twinkling white lights, food, drinks, music, and dance floor, all the more warm and inviting. It was a holly jolly celebration- Congratulations Sally and Joe!

A lil’ wedding sampler…  There are so many favorite moments, details, and images. It all began with the wedding party getting ready at the W in midtown. The morning was filled with excitement, anticipation and girl talk. There was a spread of delicious yummies and plenty of mimosas to go around. Ahhh, how I love a good Southern wedding! Barrett wore her grandmother’s wedding gown from 1942. Seeing the light pass through as it hung in the window of a super modern hotel overlooking the Atlanta skyline set my mood for the rest of the day. It was an awesome reminder of how weddings culminate the old and new, generations past, and those to come.  The whole day was a true celebration of friends, family, and the beautiful couple they all love so much. Congratulations Barrett and Don!

Barrett was a beautiful bride. I knew she would be. She asked me to photograph her wedding long before she was engaged and way before I had even considered doing weddings. It is an honor to photograph anyones big day but especially a friend. We are old high school buddies who always had a good time together. I could reminisce but I won’t share too much (the first time I was ever grounded was thanks to one of our shenanigans, if that gives you an idea!) It was an extra fun day and my biggest challenge was working, and not chit- chatting with the bridesmaids (also, old friends!) I am excited to post the official wedding sneak peak “sampler” soon. I just came across this image and could not wait to share! Mrs. Corona is simply stunning.

Angie and I were ADPi’s together at The University of Tennessee. She found me on facebook and contacted me about photographing her wedding. I was so super duper nervous! I consider it a great honor to be responsible for a couple’s wedding memories. It was tons of fun and  as you can see, a good time was had by all. It was a beautiful setting and spirits were high despite the down pour of rain. I asked Angie a few questions so you can hear what she had to say about their BIG day!

Describe your wedding flowers: My flowers were amazing. They were done by Always In Bloom in Knoxville, TN and they were just fabulous! Leonard did exactly what I described to him!! I used greens and creams and just played up the beautiful outdoor setting that we were using as our ceremony site.

Describe your wedding cake:  I saw a picture of a green, wedding cake with creme filigree on it. I loved the cake. I printed off the picture and took it to Peggy at MagPies in Knoxville, and told her that is exactly what I wanted…. when I saw it on the Big Day… I was blown away! They create incredible cakes and I knew it would be perfect.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: It was the first one I tried on!  I knew it was THE ONE!

Tell us about your location/ why did you chose it? It is my parents farm house in Greeneville, TN. That is where they are going to retire. I thought it would be really meaningful to bring our kids (their grand kids) back to the place we were married.

What was the design inspiration for your wedding? The green cake!

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?  The moment I saw Tommy! I also loved how all the “visions” of the wedding came to life! The flowers, the cake, the table settings, the band, my family, EVERYTHING. I just loved it all!

Three adjectives that describe the day are: Perfect. Amazing. and Filled with love.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Freezer pops!

Thanks Angie and Congratulations to you both!

An advantage to having your bridal portraits taken after the wedding is that you can get your dress as dirty as you like! I am not officially in the “wedding business” but have  a serious love for all things bridal. I am looking forward to shooting my first wedding in September and another in November. I am availiable in the fall for bridal and engagement sessions.
